Jessica is a Board Certified Family Nurse Pracitioner as well as a classically trained Āyurvedic Physician. She reads Sanskrit and derives her treatment plans directly from traditional Āyurvedic texts such as the Caraka Saṃhita, Yoga Ratnākar, Bhaiṣaya Ratnāvali, et al. Thus, Jessica brings a uniquely rich & diverse clinical background to her practice - rooted in a passion for preventative medicine & holistic care.
She has worked over a decade in acute care settings within hospitals, primarily the ICU & Post-Op departments. Nowadays, when she is not at her Fountain of Health Āyurveda clinic, Jessica works as a Primary Care Provider at a rural health center where she offers a wide range of medical services such as performing physical examinations, diagnosing diseases, prescribing medications, providing patient education, interpreting diagnostic tests, discussing preventative care strategies, etc.
It is her work experience within allopathic medicine that drove her to seek-for-more in health & wellness. She has an intimate appreciation for Western Medicine’s prowess in emergency medicine; however, her patient care experience, over the years, has shown her that holistic care is an absolute necessity when it comes to sustaining optimal health across the lifespan.
This realization spurred her exploration of Āyurveda, the ancient Indian healthcare medical system. Beginning her independent study in 2011, she deepened her knowledge by enrolling in the California College of Āyurveda (CCA) and completed an Āyurvedic Herbal Apprenticeship program with full scholarship from Organic India.
After which, she then went on to pursue her degree to become an Āyurvedic Physician with the renowned Vaidya Kashaypa Fisher in his Samudra Āyurvedic Physician Program. It was important to Jessica to obtain an advanced degree in Āyurveda as she wanted to work with more complex health issues & be able to offer traditional Pañcakarma therapies to clients as well. There is literally so much that Āyurveda has to offer in terms of treating or managing post-stroke neurological deficits, kidney and liver disease, diabetes, IBS, Crohn's disease, hypertension, asthma, autoimmune diseases, arthritis, obesity, depression, anxiety and so on. And this is exactly what Jessica is now focusing on at her private practice clinic, Fountain of Health Medical Āyurveda, in Grass Valley, California.
Vedic Astrology -
In addition to her Āyurvedic pursuits, Jessica became a certified Vedic Astrologer. Why? Because Vedic Astrology is a sister science to the great Indian triad of healthcare comprising Āyurveda, Yoga, and, yes, Vedic Astrology.
Over millenia, our ancient predecessors tracked astronomical happenings in the sky and observed how this impacted humanity and then went on to record it in śāstras. From these direct observations, principles were derived that have been trialed and tested over thousands of years. The Bṛhat Parāśara Horā Śāstra, which is the most comprehensive extant śāstra on Vedic Astrology, was estimated to have been written around 600 CE!
Jessica has studied Vedic Astrology alongside paṇḍita Freedom Cole since 2017. She has completed his rigorous ‘Science of Light” progam and has been a practing astrologer ever since. Her knowledge of Vedic Astrology is an insightful layer to her holistic approach to health & well-being. She uses the birthchart to supplement diagnosing her patient’s health condition. Periods of wellness & ill health can be discerned via the kuṇḍalinī, so it is a invaluable skill to have and one that she certainly enjoys employing!
